When people go on a retreat they want to connect deeply with the program. They want an immersive experience that can affect their outlook, behavior, and relationships as they move forward in life. The responsibility of the planner is to plan the retreat as if you were preparing a fine meal. Each minute must be identified and aligned with the overall goals. Look through three lenses as you craft the experience. The first lens is the big picture – what main goal are you trying to achieve in bringing these people together? The second lens is the facility – what can the place do to support that goal? The third is the participant – what will each moment feel like to them and how will it move them toward your goal and their private hopes for the time?
If you consciously work on each step, you will provide a potentially life-changing experience for your participants. Downloading this retreat planning guide is the first step.
