As the flood waters begin to recede in cities and towns in about 50 counties along the Texas and Louisiana coast, officials are just beginning to take stock of the damage.
On Tuesday, August 28, FEMA Administrator Brock Long said more than 30,000 people ultimately could need shelter. He went on to say, “The sheltering mission is going to be a very heavy lift.” And the need is expected to grow in the weeks and months ahead.
At its heart, the retreat industry has always been dedicated to improving people’s lives. And the events of the past week have given us a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of thousands of our neighbors by providing them with safe shelter at this critical time.
